Here is the latest communication from Max Oldbear, President of the UUCGT Board of Trustees:

The Board met on Jan. 24 (a week’s delay due to snow storm) and established a policy that at the end of the annual budget closing funds from the Capitol Improvement Fund (CIF) will be transferred to the Facilities Improvement Fund (FIF) not to exceed 5% of the CIF plus the balance of the FIF or $204 for this year.

The Facilities Committee is charged with overseeing improvements to the UUCGT’s buildings and grounds. It relies first, on funds held in the Facilities Improvement restricted fund. Beyond that, funding approval is required by the Finance Committee and the Board (if over $1,000).

This will give the Facilities Committee a bit more leeway in expenditures with $204 to be transferred this year.

The Board also approved a policy that would accept Bay Bucks as a donation in the Sunday offeratory for the outreach program. These Bay Bucks would then be available for dispersal by the Outreach Committee and no accounting of the Bay Bucks will be required in the UUCGT General Ledger.

The Board discussed the work ahead in the interim transition program, expressed praise and appreciation for the planning and progress of the Interim Transition Team and assured the Board’s support for the program. This will be a long and busy process with every member active in the participation, expressing their own expectations through the cottage conversations and covenant ahead. This is the process we were to have undertaken years ago when Rev. Don Vaughn-Forrester was with us but which we were not made aware of.

Last year’s Board agreed to enter this interim process, seek an interim minister, engage in the program to understand ourselves and our needs in order to welcome and settle a permanent minister. The Board this year, is committed to full and positive participation for the future of this congregation.

As a congregation, we will meet, shake hands, get to know ourselves and each other better, express ourselves, treat each other as equals, and promise to work together.

Max Old Bear

Board President
