Bridge Group: each Tuesday, 1:00pm
Sanctioned by the American Contract Bridge league. All are welcome. Cost is $5.00 per person.
*Chautauqua Discussion Series: 2nd & 4th Wednesdays from 7-8:00pm, Oct.-Apr.
A topic of discussion is facilitated with insight from the speaker and designed to promote meaningful conversation for all as expressed through the UUCGT Congregational Vision Statement. A monthly calendar is posted throughout the church, in the Beacon and Flash. Suggest topics and facilitators—see suggestion box at church by the Bulletin Board. Join in this engagement of mind, heart, body, and soul—open to the public.
*Coming Out Support Group (COSG): Every other Saturday, 11:00am-12 noon (check calendar for date)
A free support group for people who have questions about their own sexuality. The mission of this group is to provide an open and safe forum for people who are just starting out on the coming out process, have family members that are coming out and want to understand more, or just have questions about the coming out process. We invite anyone of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, or queer orientations to join us for mutual support through what can be a very difficult process.
International Folk Dancers: Wednesdays, 7-9:00pm
A fun evening of dancing for all! Visitors are always welcome and open to the public. No dance background needed. Come join us!
Mindfulness Meditation Group: Sundays, 6-8:00pm
Our group is made up of beginners as well as experienced meditators. We practice simple Vipassana techniques derived from the ancient Theravada school of Buddhism. These techniques can be practiced by anyone. We practice silent meditation for two 25-minute sessions with a 5-minute break between preceded by a discussion on a book the group has chosen. All are welcome.
Music For All:
Vocal Ensemble: Thursdays, 7-8:45, Sept.-May
The adult choir welcomes anyone in high school or older. We sing in Sunday services every 4-5
weeks. Music ranges from classical, to folk, to blues, and our efforts aim for meaning-filled and
heartfelt singing opportunities. New members always welcome!
Musical Ensembles: meets on an occasional basis
A sampling of the recurring groups are: The UUCGT Orchestra, a brass ensemble, a string
ensemble, a percussion ensemble.
*Nature-Based Spirituality Group: meeting dates vary
We honor the balance of masculine and feminine within ourselves, nature, and our spirituality while fostering that which we each find meaningful. We meet at the time of the full moon and around other major festivals as celebrated within many traditions such as the Solstice and those that draw from Celtic tradition. All are welcome in our circle!
*Peacemakers Needleworkers: meets every other Wednesday, 1:30-3:30pm
We think we solve the problems of the world while piecing quilts—we call ourselves “Peacemakers!” We usually have a quilt project in progress, but others stop by with knitting and needlework. We go on an outing each year, visiting quilt shops. New participants are welcome anytime!
*UUCGT Men’s Group: 3rd Monday each month, 5:30pm at Ruby Tuesday’s Restaurant
We gather to provide a venue for men to become more closely connected through a good discussion of timely matters and issues of mutual concern. The group determines the topics. The location is announced in the Flash and Order of Service. All UU men welcome. Please join us for a spirited time!
*Wednesday Night Supper: each Wednesday, Oct.-early May, 5:30pm social time, 6:00pm dinner; summer schedule TBA
The 1st Wed. of each month is a potluck; on following Weds., the meal cost is $4.00. If you don’t attend on a regular basis, please RSVP to the office (947-3117) to help determine quantity and preparation. Come share a meal–everyone is welcome!
*Women’s Creative Mirth Group: meets various times at different locations
